How to Secure an ATV or UTV on a Rental Trailer

ATVs and UTVs should be secured with four tie-down straps attached to the machine's designated frame tie-down points, not to plastic body panels, handlebars, or other components that flex or break under tension. Soft loop straps that wrap around the frame protect the finish at contact points. The four straps should be tensioned evenly to compress the machine's suspension slightly at each corner, which prevents bounce during transit and keeps strap tension from loosening over the haul to the McKinney-area destination.

After strapping, engage the parking brake if the machine has one and walk around the trailer to confirm all four straps are holding tension. Push on each corner of the machine to verify it does not move laterally. A machine that is properly secured does not shift under that pressure. Staff at Big Rentals walk through the tie-down points and securing process on every ATV trailer rental before it leaves the McKinney yard.
