Standard ATV vs. Wide-Body UTV:
How Machine Width Determines the Trailer Rental
A standard ATV at 46 to 52 inches wide fits on most open utility trailer decks with clearance on each side for tie-down straps. That clearance matters for securing the machine correctly, not just for getting it onto the deck. A side-by-side UTV at 60 inches or wider does not have that clearance on a compact trailer deck. Attempting to load a wide-body UTV onto a trailer that is too narrow results in either the machine sitting at the rail edge with no room for strapping or the machine not fitting at all.
Measuring the machine's actual width in inches before calling about the rental is the step that removes all uncertainty. Big Rentals rents equipment trailers in McKinney with wider deck configurations for full-size UTVs. Providing the width measurement when arranging the rental confirms whether a utility trailer deck is adequate or whether the wider equipment trailer is required.
