Tilt Deck vs. Ramp Equipment Trailers:
Which Configuration Fits the Machine

Compact skid steers, mini excavators, and most small tracked machines sit close to the ground. A standard ramp creates a loading angle steep enough that the undercarriage can contact the ramp surface before the machine fully clears onto the deck. A tilt deck prevents that by lowering the deck itself to ground level so the machine rolls on at a natural angle.

For machines with more clearance, like larger excavators and heavier construction equipment, ramp-style trailers load without that concern and provide higher weight ratings for heavier loads. Big Rentals rents both configurations in Dallas. Providing the machine's make and model when arranging the rental is the most useful step for confirming the right type.
