How to Tie Down a Flatbed Load Correctly

Texas law requires that everything on an open trailer be secured so it cannot fall off or shift while you are driving. For most flatbed loads like lumber, equipment, and palletized materials, ratchet straps anchored to the trailer's tie-down rails work well. Make sure the straps are rated for the weight of what you are hauling, and do not use any that look worn or damaged.

For heavier materials like steel pipe or structural steel, chains and binders are the right choice over straps. These materials are common in Corpus Christi's industrial market, so if that is what you are hauling, come prepared with the right tie-down equipment. Big Rentals is happy to talk through your load and securement needs when you arrange your flatbed trailer rental.
