How Do You Secure a Load on a Flatbed Trailer

Texas law requires that everything on an open trailer be secured so it cannot fall off or shift during transport. For most flatbed loads, ratchet straps anchored to the trailer's tie-down rails do the job. Make sure the straps are rated for the weight of what you are hauling, and replace any that look worn or frayed before you use them.

For heavy steel, pipe, or large structural materials, chains and binders are the right choice instead of straps. These materials are common in Laredo's industrial supply market, so if you are picking up steel or pipe, come prepared with the right securement equipment. Big Rentals is happy to talk through what you will need when you arrange your flatbed trailer rental.
